Run With Purpose

Race Directors

We’ve Got Your Back.  Get to know who we are and why we do what we do.

Al Longo

My purpose for the Veterans Race comes from my wife’s family; a large patriotic family from Puerto Rico.  Her three brothers served in the Army or Army National Guard along with brother-in-laws, cousins and nephews who served in Marines, Air Force and Navy.  It's because of them that I find inspiration to host the Veterans Race as a way to thank them for their service.

I’m an avid runner, completing over 15 marathons and participating several races every year.  I also volunteer my time to the Buffalo Marathon, serving as the Finish Line Operations Lead.  When I’m not running, you can find me on the soccer pitch coaching soccer.

Randy Martin

I grew up with many of my family members serving in the military across many different branches and in many different roles. This family history along with the respect I carry for the friends I have that serve and the Men and Women who have volunteered to defend and serve our country is what drives me to want to put on the best Veterans Race we can.

In addition to Co-Founding Buffalo Paradigm and the Veterans Race I also volunteer for the United Way, have been a civilian member of Team RWB in Buffalo for 6 years, organize finish-line security for the Buffalo Marathon, home brew beer, and am a bike course captain for a triathlon series between Buffalo and the Finger Lakes. My long history in running and triathlons keeps me involved and passionate about these events.

The Veterans Race 5K & 10K is our way of giving back to our veteran and active-duty military men and women.  When we designed this race, we wanted it to be honorable, patriotic and different.  Through the past 6 years of this race, we have donated over $15,000 to veteran organizations such as Team RWB, Veterans One-Stop Center and Soldier’s Angels. We have given out special awards to our veteran participants and have supported the local youth program Boys on the Right Track.  Our event brings together male and female, young and old, civilian and veteran to honor all who served.
